How the brief is prepared

The Private Direct Booking Opportunity Brief shows one hotel how travelers find it, where the path to a direct booking breaks, and what would improve it. This is how every brief is prepared.

  1. The process

Every brief follows the same steps, and a person carries out each one.

    1. We start from the hotel’s own website.
    2. We draft a fact layer: what the hotel publishes about its rooms, dining, policies and booking.
    3. We identify missing or conflicting information.
    4. We prepare the questions guests commonly ask about a hotel like it.
    5. We prepare the brief, testing how AI assistants and booking platforms present the hotel.
    6. We prepare a private preview of the hotel’s Kinora page.
    7. A person reviews everything before it is sent.
    8. Nothing is published without the hotel’s approval.
  2. The AI answers

We ask the assistants travelers use most: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot.

Twelve questions per hotel. Four are the same for all hotels, so results can be compared over time: whether the hotel is recognized, how it is described, whether it can be booked direct, and what booking direct includes. Eight are chosen for the property, from what travelers ask about a hotel like it.

Each question is asked in a fresh session, the way travelers ask it, with no saved history or personal settings.

  3. Booking platforms

We look at how the hotel is presented on major booking platforms beside its own website, and note where a listing gives a traveler a clearer answer, or a clearer reason to book, than the hotel does.

  4. The evidence

Every answer is saved with its date, the assistant and its exact wording, and compared with the hotel’s own published facts. For each hotel we record:

    • Which AI assistants were tested
    • The exact questions asked
    • The date of each test
    • The answers and source links found
    • Which findings were reviewed by a person

The brief shows a selection; the full record is kept, and we send it to any hotel that asks.

  5. The findings

A finding is marked only when the saved evidence supports it. Findings are never added up into a score.

    Verified
    Correct wherever it appears.
    Incomplete
    Present, but partial or wrong.
    Not found
    No reliable answer anywhere.
    Opportunity
    A clear gain within reach.
  6. What is excluded

Sponsored placements are excluded from every test, and so are answers shaped by a signed-in history. The brief records what an assistant recommends on its own.

  7. Review and delivery

A person reviews every finding before the brief is sent, within 48 hours of the request. Nothing is presented as verified without that review, and nothing is published without the hotel’s approval.

We do not guarantee AI rankings, recommendations, or bookings.
